- Select Keyword to find word(s) anywhere in the record. Type terms in any order. Click Search Everything. Use "same" between words to search them in the same field (e.g., the same title or subject field).
- Select Browse to see alphabetical lists of authors,
titles, series, or subjects that begin with, or most closely
match, the first term(s) entered. Omit initial articles such as: a, the, la, das, l', etc. Enter an author's last name
first when browsing, e.g., austen, jane.
- Select Exact to
find records that contain an exact match of the word(s) entered,
letter for letter, in that order. Use Exact for one word periodical titles, such as Nature, Science, Time. Omit initial articles such as: a, the, la, das, l', etc. Not recommended for author searching--try browse instead.
- Search Everything (Keyword only): looks for your
word(s) in any order.
- Author: can be a person, government agency, corporation,
etc. Avoid initials.
- Title: a book, DVD, sound recording, etc.
- Subject: terms in subject fields assigned by librarians to
describe the item. Do not use dashes.
- Series: word(s) in a series title only, such as
Opposing Viewpoints.
- Periodical Title: word(s) in
the title of a journal, magazine, or newspaper such as Wall
Street Journal.
- The Library limit lets you restrict
the result to the material in a single library. Note: You
will not see copies in other libraries. Select All
to show all copies in any library on campus, including those that
can be accessed via the Web.
